To mark the movie release of the most popular of this new wave of dystopian books, The Hunger Games, I made an infographic of the history of the dystopian genre to see how it has evolved and why it’s so popular today.

We’re definitely rooting for “insect overlords” to become the next trend in dystopian fiction. As long as it, er, stays entirely fictional. Because we have enough trouble dealing with bugs at their current size…
We noticed a fair amount of our spring titles - including Watergate, Mr g, and The New Hate - have covers featuring black as the dominant color. So we decided to start a Pinterest board for all our favorite little black books. From somber to sleek, new to classic, these jackets all make great use of the darkest color.
